National 4/5 S5&6- Design Course

Your work in Research must be complete for Peer Assessment and Assessment for Tracking.
The following items must be on your Research sheet:
- Research photographs based on your theme (Spring/Summer/Autumn or Winter)
- At least 2 different drawings of objects linked to your theme using different MEDIA
- Market Research photographs of Iphone/Ipad or Packagings
- A sheet of Fonts/ Lettering styles for your graphic design (eg: Apple Summer)
- Colour-way ideas (Colour Seeds or paint charts)
- Evaluation and titles describing your work and collections
- A label with your full name
- A label marked RESEARCH

It is expected that Nat 4/5 pupils will complete regular homework for their own personal projects this session
Please note: Work which is not submitted for deadlines will be notified to Guidance and Mr Dickie Faculty Head

Information about VERIFICATION -
All Practical and essay work had to be complete for Assessment/Verification
Any pupils who have not completed the work for Design during classtime should be working at home and completed the following:

o Research/ Development of 2 Designs (NAT4) /or 3 Designs (NAT5).
o If you have completed an IPAD cover, you must show it with a
co-ordinating IPHONE cover for your Final Solution
o Annotations explaining your work must be in place on all sheets
o You must also complete Nat4/ Nat5 Pupil Course Reflection sheet(s)
*Nat 5 pupils also had to decide which of 1 of their designs would be carried forward for their Design Portfolio Final Solution.

Pupils should note that Assessment deadlines must be met on time, to pass in each unit. All final folio work should be completed before the Easter holiday.
This include a Design Evaluation. A copy of the evaluation guide and a template for the evaluation is here. Students can complete and print this at home. It is worth 10 marks towards your design folio.

National 4/5 Graphic Design Project

Design an Ipad & Iphone cover

The National 4/5 Graphic Design Project is based around the theme "Four Seasons".

During this unit you will design covers for an Ipad and Iphone based around the Clydewater front.

Your designs will be based on the natural objects, plants, flowers, insects etc, which can be seen during ONE of the Four Seasons of the year.

During this unit you will produce decorative Graphic designs.
You will also study the Design History period known as Art Nouveau. Designs from this period were based on themes from nature.

Research Photo Resources for this project are now available on this page. These will cover each of the "Four Seasons" - Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter.

You will choose ONE season only for your Research.

This Graphic Design Project (Practical work) has 4 stages: Research / Development / Final Outcome / Evaluation - these stages are known as
the Design Process.

A bank of images can be found below. These pictures can be used in your Design Research.
Your teacher will ask you to select from these pictures, print them in COLOUR and bring them into class, as part of your assessment.

You could take your own photos for your theme, if you have a digital camera or phone camera. You can also email them as jpeg images to the Art Dept to be used as a central resource by other pupils - use the Staff contact form on Menu at top of the screen.
