Welcome to the Renfrewshire Ensembles page!

Pupils taking part in music lessons are strongly encouraged to attend rehearsals for school and Renfrewshire ensembles when they have reached the required standard. Renfrewshire Council has:
1 brass band
2 concert bands
1 symphony orchestra
1 string ensemble
2 string orchestras
2 percussion ensembles
1 choir
1 ceilidh band
1 jazz band

Participation in such groups
provides a unique experience for students and
contributes towards their musical and social development as well as being fun! We hope that parents and carers will encourage and support the involvement of their children.

Joining
When the pupil has gained some experience music instructors will distribute application forms and encourage pupils to take part in the appropriate group at the start of each school year. Most ensembles incur an annual £15 charge.

Rehearsals and concerts
The groups
rehearse from Autumn
to Spring in Paisley Grammar School. The day and time of rehearsal for each group is listed on the appropriate application form. Each group will take part in at least one public performance in the school year, including the Spring concert series.

The music service newsletter is called Take Note! and will give you a flavour of the range of exciting musical activities taking place across Renfrewshire.
